In 2004 August, the HKYMWO held its first Student Concerto Concert, ¡§Young Virtuosi¡DNew Generation¡¨ which feature four of our own members as soloists ¡V they are Lee Man Ho (Clarinet), Tasman John (Clarinet), Chan Hok Yin (Trombone), Chan Tsz Chun (Piccolo) . This concert acquired general acceptance from the public.
Hong Kong Band Fair 2004 ¡V Gala Concert

The HKYMWO has been invited by the Hong Kong Band Directors Association (HKBDA) to participate in the Hong Kong Band Fair 2004-Gala Concert. The concert was held on 26 July 2004 at Queen Elizabeth Stadium. Bands from Mainland China and Hong Kong were gathered, presenting wonderful music to audience with 3 hours duration. The Hong Kong Band Directors Association (HKBDA) is a non-profit making organization registered under the Societies Ordinance of Hong Kong founded in 1982. The association organizes the ¡¥Hong Kong Band Fair¡¦ annually. Tickets are free of charge so as to attract the public to come. The goal of the event is to promote band music culture and band movement in Hong Kong and to advance the education of the public in the appreciation and knowledge of music with particular reference to bands.

The HKYMWO has been invited to perform at Kwai Tsing Theatre on 7 September, 2003.This activity is organized jointly by Leisure and Cultural Service Department and Caritas Institute for Further & Adult Education (Tsuen Wan). It comprised a mixture of Chinese and Western music performance by youngsters. A brass ensemble of 12 people and a saxophone quintet from our orchestra have participated in this performance
4th Macau International Band Festival

The HKYMWO has toured and performed at the Macau International Band Festival 2003. We delighted to perform with the international renowned Euphonium soloist, Mr. Adam Frey.

Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection 2002

The Ten Outstanding Young Persons Selection Award Presentation Banquet is held at Harbour Plaza on 7 November, 2002. The HKYMWO has been invited to organize various ensembles to perform during the Award Presentation.
¡§The Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Selection¡¨ is organized by the Junior Chamber International Hong Kong (formerly Hong Kong Junior Chamber) since 1970.Up till now, 233 persons have been elected. Its objectives are to give formal recognition to the young people who excel in professional endeavors and commitment to the community, to promote prominent roles played by the aspiring young people in shaping a better future for society, and to provide an incentive to all the promising young people who seek further advancement in personal achievement as well as public services. Winners in year 2002 include Ms. Chan Hing Wan, Ms. Chen Wai Man, Dr. Ho Pak Cheong, Ms. Hsin Hsiao Hung, Dr. George Lau, Mr. Lee Chi Kong, Mr. Leung Kin Fung, Dr. Leung Tung Yeung, Ms. Wong Chun Chun, and Professor Yam Wing Wah.
12th Asia & Pacific Band Directors Association Conference (in Guangzhou)

12th Asia & Pacific Band Directors Association Conference is a great event for wind bands in Asia which is held once-every-two-years. Bands and professional musicians from different countries will gather together in this Band Festival thus provide an opportunity for winds performance and exchange. To our members, master classes held by international renowned winds and percussion musicians are a valuable occasion for learning and performing. This year, Wind Band Festival will be held in Guangzhou from 8-12August.
MUSIC INCLUSIVITY

MUSIC INCLUSIVITY concert is the annual fund-raising event organized by the Leo Club of Central which was founded by a group of high-school students who wanted to commit themselves to community service in 1997. The concert gathers music of various types. It is composed of two sections: classical and contemporary.
As MUSIC INCLUSIVITY is organized for those in need, a number of seats were reserved for orphans and newly arrived Mainland children, who might not have chances or money to go to a concert.
We, HKYMWO, who were invited to participate in the contemporary section feel delighted to work for charity.

The YMWO has been invited by the RTHK radio 4 - The Friends of Radio 4 Society to participate in the Promenade 2001 on 28 October, 2001.The concert was held at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza at 3-5pm.
Besides our orchestra, there were performances by Chinese orchestra, duet for guitar, traditional drum, etc.
Jeju Summer Band Festival 2001

Jeju Island is located on the southwest seas off the Korean peninsula. With its unspoiled natural beauty, unique cultural traditions, mild climate, Jeju Island has become one of Korea's most cherished tourist destinations.
On this island, the movement of wind music started in the 1950s and continues to this day. Jeju Summer Band Festival began in 1995 with the enthusiastic encouragement of Jeju government. In Hong Kong, bands have started to participate in this once- every- two- year international band festival since 1995.
The HKYMWO has toured to Jeju to participate in the summer band festival on 14 August 2001. Not only have we performed in three different occasions, we have also exchanged with bands from Germany, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, etc. and participated in the master classes held by renowned international wind musicians. To our members, this is a valuable opportunity for performing and learning.

The concert was held on 3 August 2001 at Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Bands from Beijing, Taiwan and Hong Kong were gathered, presenting wonderful music to audience.
The Hong Kong Band Directors Association (HKBDA) is a non-profit making organization registered under the Societies Ordinance of Hong Kong founded in 1982. The objectives of the association are to establish a closer link and fellowship among local and overseas music lovers and performing groups, to promote band music culture and band movement in Hong Kong and to advance the education of the public in the appreciation and knowledge of music with particular reference to bands. The association organizes the ¡¥Hong Kong Band Fair¡¦ annually. From July 1994 onwards, different themes are used in interflow activities every year. In 2002, the ¡¥Hong Kong Band Fair¡¦ activities included interflow concert, schools band exchange concert. Besides, visits among bands were organized to provide a chance for performers from different countries to gather and play music so as to promote friendship.
